Don't Count the Days - Make the Days Count!

Last Saturday I was walking through the aisles of Hobby Lobby. I ventured back and forth through the displays, easily distracting myself from my dull quest of purchasing magnets . I went to look at the cute plaques when I stumbled upon one that read, "Don't count the days, make the days count." With only two months left of school, this really struck home. I had been doing the countdown and while I was trying not to be a negative Nellie, I still felt discouraged by the lack of attention in my students. Maybe I am the reason my students are losing attention? So I decided then and there that I wasn't going to let my summertime yearnings affect my students. We have two months left and I am going to pack the next two months with interesting lessons and activities that the students will be wishing that the summer will never come! Well- I seriously doubt that will happen, but I want them to look back fondly on their awesome year as a first grader!
